Slow...

There are different reports out here in the province. Some companies are laying off workers, others are hiring. Some of the companies that are laying off, are the workers from other provinces that were not living here or setting up residence. Some of those companies are trying to cut back on that cost of flying ppl home and back .
The oil patch has slowed down a bit however there are still jobs popping up everywhere , still not enough ppl to fill the jobs in every sector. The oil patch is a big employer, however so is cattle, grain, forestry, coal, other mining ... there is so much more than the oil.
The Oil Patch at this time is slow, but it is going to pick back up as China will be buying our oil, if the USA decides not to.China is becoming a major buyer for Alberta right now.Construction, oil, cattle, farming, water haulage, stores, you name it ... it is here and we want you!In order to get into a camp, you have to either be in Northern AB, and with the rigs.

Hey blair, Nice to see another maritimer looking out for the rest of us. I am moving out to Edmonton in hope of starting a new life. I hope eventually through networking that I will be able to get a job at one of these RIG camps, so I can really save some money and get ahead. I have a place to stay in edmonton, and I would be interested in some labour work or LEAD hand in Form work (foundations)
